The term "prostatitis" refers to a chronic or acute inflammatory process of any etiology that occurs in the prostate gland. Because the prostate is an exclusively male organ, prostatitis only develops in men. There are many types of prostatitis, but each type of prostatitis can be divided into acute and chronic.
Acute prostatitis occurs under the influence of many factors - the presence of bacteria, viruses, protozoa, under the influence of malnutrition, sedentary lifestyle, bad habits and more. >
The prostate is a gland with external secretion, ie the secretion it produces enters the external environment. In humans, the prostate is an unpaired organ whose activity depends on male sex hormones, especially androgens and steroid hormones.
The prostate is located behind the bladder, covering the initial part of the urethra, in which its channels open.
The prostate owes one of its functions to its location - during an erection it blocks the exit of the bladder. It is the prostate gland that is responsible for the sensation of orgasm, this happens due to the abundant supply of nerves to the gland, ie innervation.
temperature
One of the first signs of acute prostatitis, regardless of the cause, is a rise in temperature. As with any other inflammatory process that takes place in the body, the temperature rises to subfebrile numbers - that is, about 37, 5-380FROM.
In addition, the more intense the immune response, ie the body's response, the higher the temperature. That is, in the midst of the disease, the body temperature can rise to forty degrees.
Of course, a rise in temperature alone cannot indicate the onset of prostatitis.
Usually the first symptoms of prostatitis are difficulty urinating with the use of additional muscles - abdominal muscles, disorders of the mechanism of ejaculation, itching, burning and other unpleasant phenomena in the perineum or genitals.
Frequent trips to the toilet
It is also an increased desire to urinate (with a small amount of urine), a feeling of "residual urine" after emptying the bladder, an unpleasant orgasm and, as a result, a decrease in libido.
General weakness
As with any inflammatory disease, there is a syndrome of intoxication, which includes general weakness, decreased ability to work, nausea and possible vomiting.
There is also a disorder of the nervous system - depression, irritability and others.
What causes prostatitis
There are also factors predisposing to prostatitis - hormonal imbalance, including age, prolonged sexual abstinence, smoking, general hypothermia, stool retention, sedentary lifestyle, lack of physical activity, overheating, chronic sciatica in the anamnesis, immunodeficiency, body.
It is worth paying special attention to such a predisposing factor as inflammatory diseases of the kidneys and urinary tract, as the infection can spread upwards.
It happens that the disease begins with urethritis
The initial stage of prostatitis is characterized by a fairly typical clinical picture - lethargy of the urine stream, frequent urge to urinate, fever. Possible pain in the perineum. There is often a violation of sexual function.
However, sexual dysfunction is more of a psychological aspect, physiological or clinical weeks. The process of ejaculation itself is either not pleasant at all, or even causes pain, to which a conditioned reflex develops, which leads to a decrease in libido.
Purely physiologically, prostatitis can lead to a lack of potency only at a late stage. The initial stage is also called the "first signs" stage - the onset of urination does not occur immediately, as usual, but with a slight delay.
Even at this stage, the prostate is enlarged, but still painless on palpation. At the same time, the borders of the prostate are well palpated, and the middle furrow is palpated - as is normal. The most interesting thing is that the stage of the first signs can last quite a long time - up to three years.
Patients of urologists in recent years are increasingly becoming young people. That is, inflammation of the prostate gland "rejuvenates". This is due to the development of "ugly" recreation - surfing, diving, skiing and kayaking. Inadequate exercise and complete hypothermia of the body can cause prostatitis.
And, paradoxically, too "quiet" lifestyle can also predispose to the development of prostatitis. This is due to blood stasis and lymph in the pelvis - sedentary and sedentary lifestyle is not the best way to disperse blood inauthorities.
Factors predisposing to prostatitis are also insufficiently cured inflammatory diseases, which may not be related to the pelvic organs at all. This is due to the fact that the infection (of any etiology) from the primary focus is able to penetrate hematogenously or lymphogenically into the prostate gland. In the presence of pelvic congestion, the infection settles there and begins to multiply.
It also happens that prostatitis occurs due to stress. Stress weakens the immune system, thus increasing the risk of prostatitis.
Sexually transmitted diseases - "sexually transmitted diseases" - one of the main causes of inflammation of the prostate. Gonorrhea, if not treated properly, almost always causes prostatitis.
Remember, however, that one cannot go from one extreme to another. Prolonged sexual abstinence again causes stagnation of blood and lymph in the pelvic organs, secretion stagnates in the prostate, leading to prostatitis.
The prognosis for timely detection and adequate treatment of this disease is favorable, but if the disease is left to chance, it is possible to chronic or add a secondary infection, which will lead to quite sad consequences.
